Astou & ANF volunteers coaches in Serekunda (Gambia)

Astou Ndiaye Foundation is an inclusive non-profit association that supports young girls in their socio-educational development through sports. Astou Ndiaye started Astou Ndiaye Foundation so African girls could finish school, improve their health, be inspired by female role models, believe in themselves and  reap the benefits of sport.

Astou was the first female  (now retired) Women’s National Basketball Association player from Senegal. She didn’t start with much as a young girl, but knew with hard work in school and on the courts in Senegal, she could create more opportunities for herself. After completing a Master’s, playing in Europe, the Olympics, the WNBA and having triplets, she returned to her home country and created the Foundation for African girls.

Our Mission

The Astou Ndiaye Foundation will empower girls and women across Africa to lead healthy and economically self-sufficient lives catalyzed by education and sports.

Our vision

We envision a strong, confident, mentally and physically healthy female population both young and old being the leaders of tomorrow.
